Frequently asked questions

Why does this tool not fetch live rates?

Because it is built to work with no internet and no third-party service. Live-rate widgets depend on an API that can change, rate-limit, go down or quietly serve stale numbers. Here you control the rates, you know their date, and the conversion is reproducible months later for an audit.

Where should I get the rates?

For statutory purposes in India use the RBI reference rate or the CBIC notified exchange rate for customs. For management accounts most companies use the month-end rate from their bank. Paste whichever your finance policy requires.

Are the built-in rates accurate?

They are indicative starting values only and are clearly marked as such. Always replace them with your own figures before using a result for invoicing, expense claims or accounting.

How does the cross-rate matrix work?

Every rate is held against a single base currency, so a conversion from any currency to any other goes via the base. The matrix shows every pair at once, which is useful for checking a multi-currency price list.

Is my rate table saved?

Yes. It is saved in this browser and synced to your account on the CRMTECH server, so it is restored on any device you sign in from, with earlier versions kept. Export it as JSON to share the same table with a colleague.

Is Offline Currency Converter free?

Yes. Offline Currency Converter is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
